I learned a lot in CSIS 1020 about Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and how computers work. Being a business major, these things are essential to learn and understand to succeed in the business world. In any field in business, you have to write, present, and calculate anything from numbers to emails to presentations. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are key software in accomplishing any of the above things. 

    In Word, we learned about writing letters, articles, and papers. We also learned about all the specific tabs in Word and how to use them while writing letters, articles, and papers. Every tab in Word has different functions that can help you with everything from spell check to inserting tables. One of the most interesting things I learned in Word was how to insert pictures, shapes, tables, and smart art. Not only did I learn how to insert these objects, but I also learned how to edit them once they were inserted.

    In Excel we learned about basic functions, editing tables, making charts, and knowing all the tabs. I struggled to learn some of the functions, but once I got the hang of it I realized how helpful the functions were. The most interesting thing I learned in Excel was the basic functions. They make calculating a mass amount of information easy and efficient. I am still trying to get some of the functions down, but I believe with practice and taking CSIS 2010 I will get a better understanding of basic functions and all functions in general.

    In PowerPoint we learned about adding, editing, moving, and fixing things in PowerPoint presentations. We also learned how to add one PowerPoint to another which I found very interesting. However, the most interesting thing I found was how to add pictures, music, and videos to a presentation. I never knew how to add videos or music to PowerPoint. I have already used what I learned about adding music in a different class for my final project presentation.

    Overall, these programs will help me with all my upcoming classes and my future career. In any classroom, you have to write, present, and calculate just like you do in business. This class has furthered my education and gave me a basic understanding of programs I will most likely use for the rest of my life.
